Jon B is back, and he’s not playing.
Twelve years after his last studio album, the legendary R&B singer has officially released his long-awaited eighth album, Waiting on You. The project comes at a milestone in his career; it’s been 30 years since he first made waves with his 1995 debut, Bonafide. That record introduced a new soulful sound in the mid-90s, including the unforgettable classic, “Someone to Love,” featuring Babyface.
Fast forward to 2025, Jon B is proving that timeless talent doesn’t fade; it evolves. ‘Waiting on You’ is a mature, soulful, and deeply personal body of work that showcases Jon’s growth while staying rooted in the smooth, seductive sound fans have always known him for.
‘Waiting on You’ features a dynamic lineup of collaborators behind the boards and on the mic. Production credits include Jon B, Brady Watt, Loren Lomboy, Donte Jackson, and Grammy-winning R&B singer Tank. The project also features guest appearances from Tank, Rick Ross, Alex Isley, and R&B mainstay Donell Jones.
Previously released singles like the sultry “Natural Drug” and the heartfelt duet “Understand” with Donell Jones set the tone for the album’s overall vibe. The title track, “Waiting on You,” featuring Tank, is a slow-burning groove packed with emotion and layered harmonies, echoing the late-night, candle-lit energy that’s signature to Jon B’s sound.
The project boasts a mellow yet powerful cadence, weaving together ambient melodies, soulful hooks, and smooth vocal tales. It’s a celebration of authentic R&B!
Speaking on the creative process, Jon B reflected: “People often expect new music to sound like the old material, but I’ve been living life, gathering inspiration from every high, low, and in-between. It takes time to build something meaningful, and I’ve approached this project with a lot more intention, pouring every bit of my soul into it.”
The release of ‘Waiting on You’ comes with even more good news. Jon is heading out on the ‘Pick Me Up Tour,’ kicking off April 11 at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, Maryland. The tour will hit major U.S. cities and promises to blend nostalgic hits with the fresh sound of his new album.
