Kali Uchis Kicks Off a Soulful New Chapter with “Sunshine & Rain”

Kali Uchis preps her next chapter with the dreamy, emotionally charged new single, “Sunshine & Rain.” The track is the first offering from the GRAMMY®-winning singer and songwriter’s highly anticipated fifth studio album, Sincerely, dropping May 9th.

On “Sunshine & Rain,” Uchis floats across a mellow, atmospheric instrumental with breathy, soul-soaked vocals. Her message is powerful yet poetic: embracing joy and love even when life throws curveballs.

“This record is about embracing a life of enjoyment despite the world or your circumstances,” says Uchis. “An existential piece focusing on the vulnerability and romanticism of life.”

The single arrived just days after being teased on social media, where it immediately lit up timelines. The track unfolds in two heartfelt verses: In the first, Uchis reveals how grounding love has reshaped her inner world. In the second, she expands that energy outward, dedicating herself to bringing peace to those she loves, especially meaningful after welcoming her first child with longtime partner Don Toliver. She wraps it all in a rich refrain that hits home:

“Through sunshine and rain, as seasons change, we all need somebody that makes the earth feel heavenly… baby I’ll be that somebody because you’re that someone to me.”

“Sunshine & Rain” follows Uchis’ recent features on JENNIE’s rising single “Damn Right,” alongside Childish Gambino, and d4vd’s “Crashing,” where she also appeared in the cinematic visual.

Uchis’ upcoming project, Sincerely, follows her critically acclaimed offering, ORQUÍDEAS, her highest charting album to date, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200. The Spanish-language project delivered hits like the Platinum-certified “Igual Que un Ángel” with Peso Pluma and “Labios Mordidos” with Karol G. The album also snagged a GRAMMY® nomination for Best Latin Pop Album and cleaned up at both the Billboard Latin Music Awards and Latin American Music Awards.

Uchis continues to flex her genre-blending skills, whether she’s sliding into ambient Latin grooves, rich R&B hooks, or baroque-style pop passages. Her catalog is filled with breathtaking moments, from her breakout Isolation to the seductive Red Moon in Venus, which featured the 2x Platinum “Moonlight.” That track, along with “telepatía” and “See You Again” with Tyler, The Creator, has pushed Uchis into the Spotify Billions Club, a rare feat.
