Coco Jones Serves Seduction on New Single “Taste” Ahead of Debut Album

Coco Jones is back with the mesmerizing new single, “Taste,” a sultry track that drips with seduction and undeniable allure. Sampling Britney Spears’ 2003 smash “Toxic,” Jones flips the familiar melody into something intoxicatingly fresh. Produced by the powerhouse trio of Stargate, Jasper Harris, and Aaron Shadrow, “Taste” is an opulent fusion of R&B elegance and late-night temptation.

With buttery vocals and an effortless sensuality, Jones paints a vivid picture of desire, losing herself in the rapture of her partner’s touch. “Got me where I’d never be / Way you kiss my lips and leave a legacy / Oh, to live without you, what a tragedy,” she coos, her voice melting into the track’s silky production. The song is laced with a hypnotic cadence, making it an instant replay-worthy vibe. With “Taste,” Coco further solidifies herself as a dominant force in the game. She’s blending nostalgia with innovation, sensuality with soul, and creating a sound that’s uniquely hers.

Accompanying the release is a steamy visual that elevates the track’s intoxicating layers. Jones steps into full seductress mode, exuding confidence and elegance while delivering sultry glances and captivating choreography. The clip, which can be watched below, is a masterclass in modern R&B aesthetics; luxurious, alluring, and undeniably Coco.

“Taste” is the third single from Coco’s highly anticipated debut album, Why Not More?, slated for release on April 25 under High Standardz/Def Jam. The album promises a mix of Coco’s signature rich vocals, deep storytelling, and genre-blurring experimentation. The project will also feature her Grammy-nominated hit “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” and “Most Beautiful Design,” a star-studded collaboration with Future and London on da Track.

Jones first teased Why Not More? with “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” in May 2024, a track that turned heads with its nod to Lenny Williams’ classic “‘Cause I Love You.” The song dominated the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart, holding the No. 1 spot for seven nonconsecutive weeks, proving Jones’ ability to bridge nostalgic soul with contemporary R&B. Her momentum continued when she dropped the Here “We Go (Uh Oh) [Remix]” in late January, enlisting the smooth and soulful Leon Thomas to add his signature touch.

In a previous conversation with Rated R&B, Jones opened up about her creative process for Why Not More?, sharing how her 2022 breakout EP, What I Didn’t Tell You, pushed her to explore new sounds. “The EP made me want to explore different sounds [and] different genres, seeing how I could mix them,” she explained. “I felt like a scientist whose one experiment did really well, and it’s like, ‘Oh damn, okay.’ Now I’m getting all mad creative, just trying a bunch of different things because I’m like, ‘That was good. Let’s see what else I can do.’ [I’m] just motivated.”

That motivation is paying off, as 2024 is shaping up to be a defining year for the rising R&B songstress. Before her album’s release, Jones is set to grace the stage at the Jazz in the Gardens Music Festival in Miami Gardens, Florida, this March. The two-day festival is stacked with legends and hitmakers, including New Edition, Toni Braxton, Xscape, Dru Hill, Kem, and rising star Doechii. It’s another major stage for Jones, who continues to prove she’s a mainstay in R&B.
