Either Teyana Taylor has an outstanding attorney, or Iman Shumpert is a very generous human (we assume the former) because she’s about to go bank. According to court documents obtained by The Express Tribune on March 13, the multi-talented artist, actress, and entrepreneur has been awarded a hefty settlement from her former NBA star husband.
The “Gonna Love Me” singer, who tied the knot with Shumpert in 2016, is set to receive four luxury properties worth over $10 million, a one-time seven-figure payment, and a luxurious fleet of high-end vehicles. Among the cars are a $300,000 Maybach, a $70,000 Mercedes Sprinter, and a tour bus. Taylor will also retain full ownership of her businesses, including her production powerhouse The Aunties and her brand Taylormade. Now, that’s called securing the bag in a major way.
The former couple, who reached a legal agreement in June 2024, have also ironed out their co-parenting arrangement for their two daughters, Junie and Rue. As part of the settlement, Shumpert will pay Taylor $8,000 per month in child support and cover their children’s private school tuition.
While Taylor will receive a considerable come-up, Shumpert isn’t leaving the marriage empty-handed. The former Brooklyn Nets player will maintain ownership of his luxurious Miami condo and his properties in South Georgia and Decatur, Georgia. He also retains control over all his investments, ensuring his financial stability post-divorce.
Back in September 2023, Taylor took to Instagram to confirm the pair’s separation, making it clear that infidelity was not a factor in their split. In a now-deleted post, the “A Thousand and One” star emphasized that she and Shumpert remained “best friends, great business partners, and one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting.”
She shut down any unwarranted speculation, stating: “Most importantly, we are FAMILY & in the 10 years together, 7 years married, we ain’t ever played with or about THAT.”
Despite the public nature of their breakup, both seem to be moving forward with grace, ensuring their children remain the top priority.
While Taylor is officially closing the chapter on her marriage, she appears to be diving into a new romance. She recently set social media ablaze after posting a picture alongside British actor Aaron Pierre at The Academy Awards. The internet wasted no time speculating that the two were an item, with fans gushing over their undeniable chemistry.
Pierre, who is set to voice Mufasa in The Lion King: Mufasa, is known for his dashing looks and rising star power in Hollywood. Though neither has confirmed the relationship, the speculation alone has fans shipping the potential power couple.
