Kanye West is off the scale again (We know, when was he on?).
In the past few days, the troubled entertainer placed himself at the center of several controversies involving fellow artists and his ex-wife. This is all because of his outspoken personality, which ignited discussions across the music industry and social media platforms.
Playboi Carti’s long-anticipated album, Music, released on March 14, 2025, features collaborations with various artists, including Kendrick Lamar. Ye, who had previously collaborated with Carti, is absent from the album. This exclusion did not sit well with Ye, leading him to express his frustration publicly. He accused external influences of preventing his participation, stating, “Jewish business forced Carti to not put me on the album.” Consequently, Ye canceled a joint project with Carti, revealing the album cover but confirming that it would “never be released.”
Ye’s dissatisfaction extended to Kendrick Lamar’s contributions to Music. Despite their past collaborations, Ye openly criticized Lamar’s involvement, stating, “I don’t like Kendrick Lamar’s music. He raps very good but I didn’t need to hear him on Carti’s album.”
The tension escalated when Playboi Carti contacted Kim Kardashian, Ye’s ex-wife, requesting their daughter North West’s participation in a song. Carti shared Kardashian’s Instagram story, adding the comment, “@kimkardashian TELL MY NIECE NORTH SEND ME A SONG.” Ye perceived this as a direct affront, especially given his exclusion from Carti’s album. He responded vehemently on social media, asserting his paternal authority and criticizing the industry’s dynamics. He stated, “I DECIDED NORTH WON’T BE DOING ANY SONGS WITH CARTI. HOW IT LOOK FOR ME TO GET LEFT OFF THE ALBUM AND THEN HE ASK KIM TO HAVE VOCALS FROM MY DAUGHTER.”
Ye’s grievances didn’t stop there. He took aim at Tyler, The Creator, claiming that Tyler “has never made a memorable song” and accusing him of emulating his style. Additionally, Ye criticized other industry peers, including Future and Metro Boomin, alleging that they distanced themselves from him due to his controversial statements.
Beyond professional disagreements, Ye’s personal life has also been tumultuous. He publicly accused Kim Kardashian of exerting undue control over their children’s artistic endeavors. The dispute intensified when Kardashian attempted to prevent the release of a track featuring their daughter North and Sean “Diddy” Combs. Despite her legal efforts, Ye proceeded with the release.
In February 2025, Ye made headlines by abruptly deleting his X account following a series of controversial posts. He departed from the platform after criticizing Taylor Swift during the Super Bowl and making several offensive remarks. He addressed his mental health, stating it was therapeutic to use social media, but ultimately decided to log out, leaving his account inactive.
The music community has been abuzz with reactions to Ye’s recent behavior. While some artists have remained silent, others have subtly addressed the controversies. For instance, Kendrick Lamar’s verse on “Good Credit” includes lines that some interpret as a response to ongoing industry tensions. However, no direct responses to Ye’s criticisms have been publicly documented.
