Eric Roberson is back and he’s bringing the soul, teaming up with Grammy-nominated BJ The Chicago Kid for a fresh, heartfelt track titled “Where You Gonna Go.” soulful melodies and poetic storytelling.

Written by Roberson, BJ, and Rodney Jones, the soulful and poetic new anthem pulls deep at the heartstrings. Produced by Roberson and Jones for Art of Artez Productions, “Where You Gonna Go” blends a lullaby-style hook with the warmth of 70’s soul, raw Detroit hip-hop energy, and the uplifting spirit of 3/4 gospel rhythms.

The song’s groove invites everything from a slow, intimate dance with a partner to a moment of deep reflection and prayer. Roberson explained the inspiration behind the track, saying: “It’s inspired by a question I ask myself to help the sunshine, even when facing storms. It explores simple extremes.”

Roberson is no stranger to pouring pure emotion into his music. Known as the “Co-Captain of the Neo-soul Movement,” his career spans across 17 celebrated albums, from 2001’s The Esoteric Movement to 2022’s Lessons. His track record speaks volumes, with collaborations alongside heavy hitters like Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, Dwele, Vivian Green, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and DJ Spinna.

“It’s R&B and soul music, but I’m a hip-hop dude,” Roberson reflects on his musical roots, a blend that makes his vibe relatable and magnetic.

Over the years, Roberson’s work has earned him two Grammy nominations for Best Urban/Alternative Performance, a BET J Virtual Award for Underground Artist of the Year, and a historic nod as the first independent artist nominated for a BET Award back in 2007.
