Logic Drops ‘Contra’ Music Video

Award-winning rapper Logic releases the music video for his latest single “Contra,” which is off his latest offering, Bobby Tarantino II. “Contra” is the fourth single released off this project. Logic is currently touring to promote the mixtape.

As expected, Logic is bringing the heat, taking shots, and blowing everything out of the water on this one. In the music video, we see the Def Jam recording artist riding around with a car full of money. As he makes his rounds, Logic is throwing one hundred dollar bills to the kids and setting mounds of money on fire. He’s literally throwing away money and doesn’t seem concerned about it at all.

“Contra” is a classic “brag track,” which aims to point out how great Logic is. The verses describe where he’s been, what he’s done, and more importantly what he had. A couple of lyrics from the single say, “Bobby, tell me who really ’bout it. Bitch, I doubt it, not a single person work harder than Bobby. Just wrote a novel, starrin’ in a movie. Built. another business while you at the party. Ain’t one to flex, but yeah I’m finna flex. I just parked that new i8 right next to the Audi.” He made a similar song last year called “Everybody,” off a studio album which bears the same name. Only in that song, he talked more about his work-ethic than his success and accolades.

The chorus of “Contra” boasts, “Bitch, I’ve been blowin’ up. Everyone showin’ up, where was you in the beginnin’? I know that they showin’ up. Only come around and fuck with me when the boy winnin’. No, you do not know enough. You do not know a thing about this life that I’m livin’. You’ve never been low enough. Yeah, I was born at the bottom. Everything I’m given now.”

Logic released Bobby Tarantino II at the beginning of March. He is currently hitting multiple cities on his Bobby Tarantino Versus Everybody Tour which features NF and Kyle. Some of the stops include Detroit, New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Houston. The tour started on June 8 in Boston and ends on September 10 in London.

New Video: TxTHEWAY – Jump

Platinum-selling singer/songwriter TxTHEWAY recently debuted the visuals for “JUMP,” his latest single as a solo artist. Formerly known as T-Baby, the South Florida native dropped the single towards the end of March. The music video that accompanied was directed by world-renowned video and commercial director DREFILMS.

Inspired by TxTHEWAY’s hometown of Miramar, FL, the music video for “JUMP” mostly depicts the typical lifestyle for the everyday Black South Floridian. TxTHEWAY returned to Miramar to film the video. There’s money, trapping, strippers, and the inevitable senseless violence that follows. Though most of the scenes are accurate representations of what one would see if they lived in South Florida, the shot of a stripper dancing on the basketball court is obviously a fantasy; maybe.

The song itself contains that easy going bounce style that’s perfect for cruising the streets in your vintage Oldsmobile Cutlass or Mercedes E-Class. Produced by MOTIV, “JUMP” hits the midpoint between chill and hype. With a chorus that boasts, “Got a whole lot of money in my pocket right now” and “Got a whole lot of homies that’s dead right now,” the song expresses an all too familiar reality of the average street hustler. Especially, when you add in the stresses of law enforcement, imprisonment, and gunplay.

“JUMP” is essentially a reflection piece that captures the good and bad times associated with a certain lifestyle that many people will never know. For those who are all too aware, it’s a reminder of the constant battles that take place when you’re an inhabitant of the streets.

Though TxTHEWAY is considered a new artist, he is definitely not new to the music industry. Besides being a rapper, singer, and songwriter, he’s worked closely as a collaborator with notable artists such as Major Lazer, Jason Derulo, Diplo, and many others. On March 7th, UnitedMasters redistributed signee TxTHEWAY – rapper, singer and songwriter, to film the visual for “JUMP.”

Some of the most popular hits that he co-wrote include Major Lazer’s “Light It Up” ft. Nyla and Fuse ODG. “Light it Up” peaked at #1 on Billboards Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart and became a platinum-selling hit record in the U.S. and internationally. Quite an accomplishment for a new solo artist.

“JUMP” is definitely a siren for the Summer with an impactful message that can inform the masses. So far, the song has garnered approximately 161,0000 hits on Spotify.

Female Rapper 22 Unite Women With ‘Girl Gang’

Shatina “22” Davis enters the rap game with her brand new single, “Girl Gang,” a melodious and empowering ode to women everywhere. On the track, the femcee adds a positive connotation to “gang” as she aims to unify women through love and sisterhood.

In the accompanying music video, the Richmond, VA native spits her bars with her girl gang backing her up. The Will Thomas-directed clip culminates with a little splash painting on a sign that reads: “support your local girl gang.”

Davis’ 22 moniker came about because that’s the age that she decided to take her passion for music more seriously and pursue it as more than just a hobby. She is a proud wife and loving mother of 2. Her motto is to “Walk By Faith and Not By Sight.”

Pell Pays Homage in His Single ‘Throwbacks’

Over the years, the industry has seen many artists emerge out of the historic city of New Orleans including industry greats and new era artists Master P, Birdman, Lil Wayne, Juvenile, Dee-1, NBA Young Boy and now Pell.

Pell, a NOLA artist, is taking fans back to the classics by embodying the style of “Slow Jamz” a classic single of the early 2000’s by Jamie Foxx and Twista, with his new single “Throwback” featuring Chicago artist Saba. The record appears on his EP, Girasoul, which he released in December 2017.

Pell’s newest music video not only gives throwback vibes with the melody of the music but also the with the look. The music video was shot with a Super 8 camera giving vintage vibes to the scenery. The visual gives creative vibes as it showcases Pell in his “house,” however, the rooms in his “house” are surrounded amongst out of the norm environments of beaches, streets, and mountain peaks.

According to Pell, “Shooting the video was dope because it was the first time I was shooting this quality of a video with bystanders walking by watching me do it, You could say it was interactive in that way that most of my music videos aren’t.”

This dynamic of the video puts a viewer in needless to say a throwback mindset. Pell’s newest music video can be viewed below so take a ride in the time machine as you prepare for the throwback!

Young Thug – Anybody Feat. Nicki Minaj; Plus New EP

Young Thug has decided to release new music after his musical silence. ‘Hear No Evil’ is the title of his new three-song EP. He has huge features for each single, “Anybody” featuring Nicki Minaj, “Up” featuring “Lil Uzi,” and “Now” featuring 21 Savage.

Young Thug actually took a musical silence to honor his brother who is deaf. Even though he still released this new music, he pays tribute to his brother in the song “Anybody.” This song’s visual is not as common as we’re used to. Instead of the spotlight shining on Nicki Minaj and Young Thug, the video’s two stars are a young woman and young man translating the song into sign language. Definitely a game changer and an honor.

Check out Young Thug new music and incredible new visual for “Anybody” right here at the Rappersroom.

kiara-simone-trick

Kiara Simone’ – Trick (Official Music Video)

Kiara Simone is fiery and bold in the new visual to ‘Trick!’ The all-in-your-face ladies anthem is untraditional, powerful and true to game. Simone is promoting women’s empowerment in a male-dominated industry – her way!

The LA native spits fire like Kodak Black and expels raw confidence like Kash Doll. Simone’s gritty delivery, honest lyrics and inspirational story of rising from immense pain and struggle to follow her dreams, allows her story to rise above the rest.

“Nothing is fake about my music,” said Kiara. “I don’t make it up: what you hear in my music is ME. I’ve been through a lot and no one from where I’m from has made it this far. If I can do it, you can do it too.” She continued: “My music is about empowering women to be strong-minded and make them feel like they can achieve anything on their own, without being so dependent on men,” stated the rising star.

Kiara first tapped into her musical talents at age 14 when she spit a verse by Lil’ Mama from her song “Shawty Get Loose” as her phone’s voice message recording. With the approval of her older sister Shawnta, Kiara started writing her own rhymes and practicing her craft. In a tragic turn of events, her beloved sister was shot and killed in PG County (a suburb of Maryland), leaving Kiara heartbroken. Her life changed forever and two years later, after trying to cope without her sister being around, she reached a breaking point where she wanted to completely give up on everything.

“When I’m not where I want to be, I feel pointless,” she said. “All I had was music. I wanted to give up, but I couldn’t. When you want something that bad, you’re going to do whatever it takes to get it. I had to do it for my family to help change their situation, and I knew I was the way out,” she explained.

Between her soaring streaming numbers from the new project ‘XIV’ and the smarts of a Wall Street banker, we bet Kiara Simone makes your man ‘trick!’

Chromeo – Must’ve Been Ft. DRAM

Montreal natives, Chromeo releases a video for their third single “Must’ve Been,” featuring multi-platinum, GRAMMY-nominated artist DRAM and guitarist Jesse Johnson (Prince, The Time). The Funk duo, comprised of Dave 1 and P-Thugg are seen tracing their decades-spanning friendship in the clip, directed by Dugan O’Neal.

P-Thugg wakes Dave 1 from a deep sleep, initiating each adventure to follow, from Dave 1 hiding from a crazed girlfriend to a flashback of their teenage years smoking in the basement with friends, with an appearance by DRAM. As young children, the duo ends up running from a rec center with a set of keys to an officer’s vehicle and driving away. The explanation for all the madness is questionable. As Chromeo describes it, they must have been out of their mind and high.

“Must’ve Been” is Chromeo’s latest track from their much-anticipated album titled Head Over Heels, which is set to drop on June 15 on Big Beat/Atlantic Records. It features guest vocals from The-Dream, Stefflon Don, French Montana, and Amber Mark as well as contributions from Raphael Saadiq, Rodney Jerkins, Pino Palladino, and Onyx Collective.

Chromeo kicked off the first leg of their tour this week with sold-out West Coast North American shows including Coachella, Los Angeles, Oakland, Seattle, Portland, and San Diego. Their upcoming shows include appearances at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Osheaga, and Primavera Sound. For tickets visit chromeo.net.

With the release of her debut album hitting shelves and all digital streaming platforms this week on April 6th, Bronx femcee Cardi B delivers the visuals to her chart-topping single “Bartier Cardi” featuring rapper 21 Savage.

The release comes shortly after the surprise release of “Be Careful,” the first track off of Cardi’s debut album, Invasion Of Privacy.

In the Petra Collins directed clip, Cardi plays the pin-up girl of your dreams in full vintage gear, rocking furs and diamonds. As she recites the hits most popular line, “Your bitch wanna party with Cardi,” the 2x GRAMMY-nominated rapper is being watched on a hazy television screen by a line of well-oiled men.

21 delivers is verse while tied to a chair by women sporting afros and jewel-encrusted pieces.

Hubby Offset makes a lustful appearance as the two tussle with affection in the back seat of a moving car.
