Yung Miami posted a trailer to Instagram on Wednesday (Sept 30) that provided her first solo album a name: Watch Dis. It left off the two details a streaming campaign is usually built around, a release date and a label. On X the same afternoon, she dubbed the project as a wager on herself. "This album is personal. This is me betting on ME," she wrote. "I've been counted out before… I know what that feels like. But I also know what it feels like to prove everybody wrong. WATCH DIS!"

The title retires "Yams," the Miami nickname that she attached to this solo era in February 2024. That month, she wiped her Instagram grid and posted a teaser promising to take things back to her roots, her people and her lingo. More than two and a half years and several missed windows later, she arrives with the largest single of her career. "Spend Dat," produced by J. White Did It, peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100, higher than anything she reached as half of City Girls. Her previous high mark belonged to the duo's "Act Up," which peaked at No. 26.

The last time her name sat on an album cover, the record opened at No. 117 on the Billboard 200. Those two numbers, three years apart, outline what Watch Dis has to settle once it gets a date.

"Spend Dat" came out in late April with a video that put NeNe Leakes and Trina beside her, and it reached the Hot 100 the slow way. It first climbed to the top of the Bubbling Under chart, then entered the main list at No. 66. That was already her best solo showing, since her first solo single, "Rap Freaks," had peaked at No. 81 in 2021.

From there the climb ran through the summer, to No. 34 in June, No. 25 at the start of July and finally No. 17. The song led the Rap Airplay chart for five weeks across July and August. By July 30 it had drawn 83.8 million on-demand streams in the United States, according to Billboard. Spread across its run from late April, that works out to roughly six million plays a week from one track.

Off the charts, it blared through the New York Knicks' locker room during their NBA Finals celebration in June, a moment captured on video and passed around social media. By late August she had added a remix with Lil Baby and Kodak Black, giving radio a second version while the original was still in rotation.

Every album she has put out so far belongs to City Girls. Girl Code entered the Billboard 200 at No. 63 in late 2018, carried by "Twerk" with Cardi B and "Act Up," both Top 40 singles later certified platinum. City on Lock reached No. 29 in 2020, the duo's best showing on the album chart.

RAW arrived in October 2023 with six singles out ahead of it, including "Good Love" with Usher and "Flashy" with Kim Petras, and opened at No. 117. HITS Daily Double put the first week at about 10,000 units, and JT and Yung Miami went their separate ways the following year.

Her audience in the years between was built largely off the mic. Her REVOLT interview series, Caresha Please, won Best Hip Hop Podcast at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards, with episodes featuring Megan Thee Stallion, G Herbo and Summer Walker. When music slowed in 2022 and she was earning mostly from shows, she told Walker, she went back to selling clothes and later built a drinking game called Resha Roulette. A first-week album total counts listeners who press play on a full project, and it has no column for podcast viewers, game buyers or followers of a personality on their timeline.

Watch Dis will have a No. 17 single in front of it. Under Billboard's rules, though, a track's streams only begin counting toward an album once the album is out. Until Watch Dis has a street date, every play of "Spend Dat" still accrues to a single with no project behind it.

Yung Miami's next scheduled performance is at a historically Black university in Montgomery. Alabama State's 2026 Homecoming Concert puts her at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome on Thursday, Oct. 8, on a bill with YFN Lucci, Lil Tony and YK Niece.

She spent part of this summer on the road with BossMan Dlow and Bally Baby, playing Atlanta, Washington, New York, Los Angeles, Houston and Miami while the single was still climbing. A homecoming set in October is a different measure, because the crowd that sings back "Spend Dat" will also hear whether it knows "Tea Time" or "News Flash" word for word.
