Why we’re listening
Myles Sanko explores what comes after confronting old wounds on I See My Light, his seventh studio album, released September 11 through his independent label, 213 Music. The 10-track collection continues the personal journey of 2024’s Let It Unfold, shifting its focus toward self-belief, emotional recovery and the freedom to stop seeking validation elsewhere. “Pieces of Myself” addresses accepting the parts of ourselves we once rejected, while “Get in the Zone” tackles hesitation and “Even in the Storm” offers encouragement through uncertainty. The title track, “I See My Light (All This Time),” places that message in sharpest focus: the strength Sanko has been searching for was already within him. “Slow Down” adds an especially thoughtful counterpoint, suggesting that healing also means giving yourself permission to rest. Together, these songs shape personal growth as an ongoing practice of patience and self-acceptance, extending the soul and jazz artist’s commitment to making music on his own terms.
Sanko’s upcoming tour hits Newcastle, Manchester, London's Jazz Cafe and Norwich Oct 8 to 11 before continuing through Europe into December, with full tour dates on his site.
