Why we’re listening
Tiwa Savage announced “African Baddie” on X on Oct 28, replying to a man who mocked the idea of a baddie at 40 by noting she is 46 and promising to drop her “super hottttt record” on Friday. The 2:38 track arrives under her Everything Savage banner a little over a year after This One Is Personal, the EMPIRE album whose cycle opened in October 2024 with “Forgiveness,” co-written by Muni Long and Theron Thomas.
The Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer has performed at King Charles’ coronation concert, starred in and executive-produced the feature film Water & Garri, and recorded with Beyoncé, Brandy and Nas. Her songwriting credits for other artists include records for Monica, Fantasia and Babyface.
