Why we’re listening

JHart, the GRAMMY-winning songwriter behind hits for Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter and Tate McRae, has released The Full Fantasy, a seven-track EP that follows his 2023 debut, The Wishing, The Wanting, The Longing, and pushes him further into the spotlight as a vocalist. The rollout ran through three singles: “Memories,” which reached the Top 25 at radio on Mediabase, the childhood-facing “BBY Blue,” and the flirtatious title track “Full Fantasy.” The new focus track, “Midnight Dancing,” buries a song about substance use and numbing out inside a ’70s dance-floor arrangement, and the rest of the EP leans on warm, groove-driven soul production throughout. “Cruise” brings in Durand Bernarr, closing a loop that started when JHart won his first GRAMMY as a co-writer on Bernarr’s BLOOM, which took Best Progressive R&B Album at the 2026 ceremony. The release notes that his writing has contributed to more than 100 billion catalog streams and 25 million sales, and mentions his appearance on Netflix’s Hitmakers. JHart will perform the full EP for the first time at a release party at Blue Note Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 28.
