TEEKS finally declares a date for his long-awaited second album. The New Zealand soul singer will release Lovers Comet on October 30 through Sony Music, ending a five-year gap between full-length projects following his 2021 debut, Something to Feel.

The announcement arrives with “Overdose,” a new single and video that gives listeners a second look at the 12-track album following June’s “My Boy.” TEEKS themes Lovers Comet around desire, intimacy, identity and the ways love can alter a person without reducing those experiences to idealized romance.

“Overdose” pushes directly into that intentions. TEEKS says the song was inspired by Madeline Miller’s The Song of Achilles, with romantic devotion presented almost as an act of worship. The attraction at the center of the song is powerful enough to become both refuge and danger, an idea he summarizes with the line, “They are both your savior and your ruin.”

That perspective also runs through the larger concept of Lovers Comet. TEEKS describes love as “magnetic, unpredictable” and occasionally destructive, comparing its arrival to a comet capable of illuminating and disrupting everything around it. The album’s celestial composition gives him room to examine desire from several directions rather than building another collection solely around conventional love songs.

Lovers Comet follows Something to Feel, which debuted at No. 1 on the New Zealand chart and established TEEKS as one of Aotearoa’s most prominent contemporary soul voices. He has not been entirely absent since then. “Red Light” opened another chapter in late 2024, while “My Boy” formally restarted the album campaign this June.

With “Overdose,” that campaign now has a destination. Lovers Comet arrives October 30 with 12 songs, including “My Boy,” “Overdose,” “Promised Land,” “Put Your Love on Me,” “Narcotica,” “Unnatural” and closing track “Feel My Love.”
