Nearly four decades into Salt-N-Pepa, Cheryl "Salt" James is releasing her first solo album on her own Salt Songs Inc. label, 15 tracks titled after Matthew 5:13 with guest spots from Erica Campbell, Chuck D, Shanice, Dee-1 and Elijah Blake. The faith sits right on the surface, but she has said this isn't a gospel record, and "Kings & Queens" was filmed inside the Hip Hop Museum in the Bronx. It lands while she co-headlines the IT'S ICONIC Tour with Pepa, En Vogue and TLC, and her own summary of the project is "I have something I want to say."
