Why we’re listening

Sol does not do rollouts. The album was announced on Aug 10 with a short clip and arrived ten days later, a day ahead of the standard Friday, and the only commentary attached was a press note saying it speaks from a place of honesty. Inflo produced all fifteen tracks, as he has produced all five of her solo records, and she sings them at conversational volume and lets the arrangement come to her.

This is her first solo full-length since Gold in 2023, arriving five years after Mother, the double album that still sets the terms for what she does best. It also lands in an uneasy stretch for the Forever Living camp, where Little Simz took legal action against Inflo last year over roughly one million pounds she says went unpaid. Titles like "Let Me Cry," "Family Ties" and "Force Of Love" tell you where the record lives, and anyone who has kept Mother in rotation for five years will find the same room waiting.
