About This Release

Dawuna is the Virginia-raised, Baltimore-based Ugandan-American producer Ian Mugerwa, and 'Love's Arp' is a 13-track record about love that he wrote and produced at home in Baltimore. True Panther describes it as diasporic Black music joining old and new, and the lead single 'Love's Ekongo' sets syncopated drums and thumb piano beneath his vocal.

The album extends a run that stalled at the end of 2023, when health problems kept Mugerwa from writing for months, and restarted with 'African Family Laptop Musick' in July. Joe Williams added synth design on four tracks and co-mixed the record, Love Iris Chery consulted creatively on nine, and Heba Kadry mastered it in New York.
