Lead It Up (KAYTRANADA Remix)

KAYTRANADA’s remix of GENA’s “Lead It Up” takes the duo’s already soulful, hypnotic original and gives it a sharper rhythmic spine without disturbing its hazy atmosphere. Liv.e’s loose, intimate vocal still floats at the center, while Karriem Riggins’ musical instincts are reframed through KAYTRANADA’s syncopated drums, elastic low end and clipped percussion, turning the song into something more kinetic while preserving its off-center warmth.

The remix arrives after GENA’s February debut album, The Pleasure Is Yours, on Lex Records, and just ahead of the duo’s New Zealand and Australia dates beginning Oct. 1 in Auckland. Rather than radically rebuilding the track, KAYTRANADA tightens its groove and gives “Lead It Up” a more immediate dance-floor pull, making the collaboration feel like an extension of GENA’s sound rather than a detour from it.
