Why we’re listening
On "Guns & Roses," k-os brings back the essence of hip-hop through vivid lyricism, sharp wordplay and the kind of personality that has always separated him from the pack. The record reconnects with the spirit of his earlier work without sounding like an exercise in nostalgia, giving him room to rap with purpose while retaining the musical instincts that made his catalog so distinctive.
The single also opens the door to k-os' first full-length album since 2015's Can't Fly Without Gravity. According to k-os, Drake is financing the project, with DreamCrew executive Matte Babel managing it. The connection stretches back nearly two decades, when a young Drake was sending k-os tracks in hopes of collaborating, eventually leading to their unreleased song "Faith." Now that relationship has come full circle, with Drake helping fund the next chapter of an artist he was reaching out to before his own rise.
