Why we’re listening
“47th Street” is named for the Chicago street where Lalah Hathaway's family lived, and the original, which she co-wrote and co-produced with Phil Beaudreau, set J. Ivy's spoken-word passage about the Great Migration against her vocal. This two-track single, which includes a 4:02 remix radio edit, lands a month after Made In Chicago arrived Oct 1 as her ninth album.
No remixer has been credited publicly, and the release stays under the album's licensing deal with The SRG/ILS Group through her Hathaway Entertainment banner.
