Why we’re listening
Leela James follows her 2025 EP 2BHONEST with “What U Need,” a three-minute single that lands in the middle of fall tour dates running into mid-November. The release keeps her with BMG, which has licensed her SheSangz Music output through the 2023 album Thought U Knew and the singles that followed it.
On adult R&B radio, “Complicated” held No. 1 on Billboard's Adult R&B Songs chart for three weeks in 2021, “Fall For You” went gold in 2022, and “Lookat Whatcha Done Now” drew a 2025 NAACP Image Award nomination.
