Why we’re listening
"God Body" sounds comfortably planted in the classic Wu-Tang tradition, with Mathematics supplying a rugged backdrop that leaves plenty of room for Method Man and AZ to work. Meth brings the unmistakable voice and cadence that have anchored Wu records for decades, while AZ's measured delivery fits naturally against the dusty New York production. Nothing here feels designed to modernize the formula for the sake of it. Mathematics instead taps into the grit, chemistry and lyrical focus that made this corner of East Coast hip-hop so durable.
The single also opens the next chapter of Mathematics' catalog ahead of his upcoming album Black Samson: The Saga Continues, scheduled for November 6 on DNA Music. The project extends a particularly active stretch for the longtime Wu-Tang DJ and producer, who is also preparing an expanded reissue of his 2003 debut Love Hell Or Right for November 13. That gives Mathematics two album releases in consecutive weeks, while "God Body" establishes the sound and personnel leading into the first of them.
